Jose Barra, senior vice president of décor, has spent nearly his entire life in retail.
His grandmother was a stickler for product placement in her stationary store in Quito, Ecuador. He caught the retail bug early working for her when he was 11 years old. Jose would leave her store for swim practice where he learned that technique, drills and commitment will separate you from the pack. Those early learnings have shaped a unique career that spans working as a diplomat for the Ecuadorian Embassy in the U.K. to leading merchandising efforts at top retailers.
