CELEBRATING VETERANS DAY THROUGH SERVICE

November 11, 2016

Today, more than 2,000 Home Depot associates rolled up their sleeves to celebrate Veterans Day in the company’s hometown of Atlanta.

A sea of orange washed over a parking lot at the Store Support Center as Team Depot volunteers framed the walls of four Habitat for Humanity homes for local veteran families.

Volunteers also assembled furniture for formerly homeless veterans who need help making their houses and apartments feel more like home.

The Torres family looked on as volunteers built a playhouse for their two children, Jericho and Anna. They are one of eight veteran families who will receive a custom playhouse for their families thanks to today’s efforts.

"We appreciate this so deeply," said Mrs. Torres. "It means so much to be here and to see all the volunteers pitching in."

Today served as a hometown finale for The Home Depot’s sixth annual Celebration of Service program, but it doesn’t stop here. The Home Depot Foundation has pledged to grow its commitment to veteran-related causes to a quarter of a billion dollars by 2020.
