With Hurricane Michael making landfall in the Florida Panhandle, The Home Depot has activated its Disaster Response Command Center at the Store Support Center in Atlanta.
Inside the Command Center, the company works around the clock to ensure it is supporting coastal communities, with combined efforts by the merchandising, supply chain and operations teams.
Our supply chain team is working tirelessly to load and stage trucks outside the impact area to move in quickly when the storm passes. Distribution centers in the southeast are focusing their efforts on loading products most in-demand after a storm. So far, the company has sent nearly 450 shipments of supplies to local stores, including generators, extension cords, wet/dry vacs, portable lighting and cleaning materials. Additionally, The Home Depot Foundation is partnering with the Red Cross and Operation Blessing, as well as disaster NGO partners, to preposition supplies for affected communities.
Our operations team is also working to staff stores in the impacted area once re-opened. An initial wave of 160 associates from central Florida has deployed to the Panhandle to assist.
