TORO CUSTOM Z-BUILDER LETS YOU SIT IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT

April 06, 2015

You can customize your patio furniture, kitchen tile and bathroom hardware—so when it comes to the yard, why shouldn’t you be able to customize your lawn mower? Toro, a top manufacturer for outdoor equipment, decided you should be able to do just that.

With the Toro Custom Z-Builder, professionals and homeowners alike can find the perfect mower to fit their needs. Starting with Toro’s popular TimeCutter model, consumers can tailor the steering, platform, deck, engine and more.

Toro is well known for their zero-turn mowers, which have superior maneuverability. “Our customers report an average time savings of about 45%* when using a zero-turn mower in comparison to a lawn tractor,” says Tanner Erickson, marketing manager at Toro.

After witnessing a trend in customization, Toro decided to expand its products to include more personalization. “We did our own research and learned there was a high degree of interest surrounding customization among those considering buying a mower like ours,” notes Tanner.Mowing Time

Every yard is different and every operator is different, so buying a “one size fits all” mower doesn’t always work for a consumer. Toro’s customization allows for 16 base options and 20 add-on possibilities. While your choices increase, the price doesn’t have to. Many of the options available are comparable in price to what you pay for a pre-built model in-store.

Toro’s Zero-Turn Mower allows you to spend 45% less time mowing.*built model in-store.

Is customization something better suited for the professionals? “Not necessarily,” Tanner explains. “While it is a great tool for buyers who know exactly what they want, it’s also perfect for a customer who maybe doesn’t know what they want and needs help familiarizing themselves with options.” Each selection is explained throughout the customization process (photos and videos included), allowing shoppers to become more educated on their decision.

Toro’s strong commercial and professional heritage, along with their reputation for innovation, made them the perfect fit for this Home Depot partnership. “This was definitely a joint effort between Toro and The Home Depot. It was our goal to create the best experience possible for the consumer throughout the customizing process,” shares Tanner. You can develop your perfect mower online or in-store in a matter of minutes. And, your TimeCutter will be delivered to your home just in time for the next cut—approximately 10-14 days.

“When looking for a new mower, you want to make sure it is a quality product that addresses your specific lawn needs. It’s a big investment, so why not get the perfect mower for you?” asks Tanner.
