Team Depot Prepares Disaster Kits for Communities Projected to be Impacted by Hurricane Laura

August 26, 2020

As Hurricane Laura intensifies to a Category 4, communities across Texas and Louisiana are bracing for hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall.

To help, Team Depot volunteers across District 79 in Northeast Houston and District 260 in Northwest Houston created a total of 500 disaster relief kits. The Home Depot Foundation’s long-standing partner, Convoy of Hope, will collect and distribute the kits to families in need.

“Associates came together to support their neighboring communities,” says Sean Vissar, field manager for The Home Depot Foundation. “Together, they packaged relief kits that will be vital in cleanup efforts after the storm, including gloves, trash bags, scour pads, paper towels, toilet paper and bottles of water.”

Team Depot is also partnering with Operation Blessing in the creation of 750 kits in Ocala, Florida. More kit preparation is planned in more than 40 stores spanning Louisiana and Alabama, expected to result in 1,500 disaster kits for those in need.
