It's A Bright New Day in Residential Solar with The Home Depot, Sunrun and Vivint Solar

February 28, 2019

The Home Depot’s residential solar program just got brighter.

Customers looking to green their homes with solar power need look no further than The Home Depot’s growing residential solar program. Today, The Home Depot announced an expansion of its relationship with Sunrun Inc., and the introduction of a new vendor, Vivint Solar. Together, the three industry leaders will make clean, renewable energy more accessible and affordable to households across the United States.

“Bringing solar solutions to our customers is an important part of our business and sustainability strategy,” said Ron Jarvis, vice president of environmental innovation. “We are committed to selecting best-in-class vendors for our customers to explore their solar options, and we’re confident Sunrun and Vivint Solar will deliver a superior experience.”

The expansion establishes Sunrun as The Home Depot’s leading home solar vendor in 15 states. Over the coming months, Sunrun’s presence in The Home Depot will grow from more than 100 stores across six states today to nearly 700 stores. Sunrun representatives will be in stores across Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont and Wisconsin. “Americans are united in their desire for clean, renewable energy. Through this expansion, Sunrun and The Home Depot are making it easier for households to go solar today. Sunrun’s solar service and Brightbox give people the freedom to create their own energy, contribute to healthier communities, and support a safer, more resilient energy system for everyone,” said Lynn Jurich, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sunrun.

New to The Home Depot, Vivint Solar will deploy solar representatives to stores across eight states, giving homeowners easy access to information as they consider solar for their home.

“Millions of homeowners visit The Home Depot seeking ways to improve their homes, so it’s a great venue to share how Vivint Solar’s simple and affordable home power solutions add value to homes and cuts utility bills,” said Vivint Solar CEO David Bywater. “Our in-store team can help families learn how clean energy and safe home battery systems help them move towards energy independence.”

Vivint Solar representatives will be in The Home Depot stores throughout Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Utah and Virginia. The in-store consultant rollouts will be complete by the end of June 2019, though shoppers in those locations can obtain Vivint Solar information from Home Depot store representatives beginning today and at www.homedepot.com/vivintsolar.
