Moving can be stressful. Whether you’re upsizing, downsizing, or sending a child off to college, there’s always so much to do in so little time.
To better understand the needs of movers, The Home Depot recently completed a 2021 survey of Americans planning an upcoming move, in partnership with Wakefield Research. The survey found that 82 percent of people were concerned about the logistics of their upcoming move. Some of the biggest fears include finding a time to move, how to hire the right moving team, potentially losing or damaging items in the process and simply running out of room in the moving truck.
To help eliminate these concerns, we’ve enhanced our Mover’s Hub to save customers time, money, and stress.
Planning is the first and most important step to make sure your big move-in day goes smoothly. According to the survey, 50 percent of movers would be interested in online and tech resources to help them to plan their move.
Not sure where to start? Our moving checklist helps you get organized early on, so you won’t forget any details.
74 percent of soon-to-be movers reported that they are not sure how many boxes and supplies they need for packing, and 53 percent noted that it’s difficult to find and identify the tools and products they’ll need to move.
When you’re ready to start packing, our online moving calculator helps you determine how many and what kinds of boxes you’ll need. Standard moving boxes and heavy-duty boxes work great for a wide range of items. We’ve also introduced specialty moving boxes including wardrobe boxes with hanging bars and handles for easy carrying, and adjustable TV and picture moving boxes, all made of 100% recycled cardboard.
Like the 72 percent of survey participants, true DIYers will be interested in rental programs like tools and lifting equipment to move themselves.
To help, equipment like dollies can be reserved online with our new Rent Online, Pickup In-Store feature that ensures your tools are ready for you on move-in day.
