2020 has been an unpredictable year. From the home to the workplace, there's an undeniable need to ground ourselves and seek comfort. For Behr, that means identifying 21 different colors to create “Elevated Comfort,” the company’s 2021 Color Trends Palette.
“Paint can be used to help convey feelings of security, warmth and well-being,” says Erika Woelfel, vice president of Behr’s Color and Creative Services. “Rather than share a single Color of the Year, we chose to reveal a full color palette composed of a spectrum of hues for many design styles and preferences that support what people are looking for today: personalization and elevated comfort.”
The Behr 2021 Color Trends Palette contains 21 shades, including neutrals like brown Modern Mocha and fiery bolds like Saffron Strands orange. To help with color choice, Behr has organized the shades into six different color themes and encourages doers to embrace their color design discovery. The themes help evoke mindfulness and positive emotions, including: Casual Comfort, Subtle Focus, Optimistic View, Quiet Haven, Calm Zone and Outdoor Escape.
“New comfort trends incorporate expressions of colors that are inviting and versatile, sparking authentic feelings of warmth and satisfaction in the home,” says Erika. “Our hope with this palette is to prove to DIYers that color themes aren’t boring, but instead are reliable and can expand beyond the traditional beige, gray and white.”
