The Home Depot celebrates 20 years of business in Puerto Rico this month.
The first store in Puerto Rico opened in Carolina on Sept. 10, 1998. In their book, Built from Scratch, founders Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank marveled, “Our first store in Puerto Rico had the strongest opening, sales-wise, in the history of the company.” The following summer, the second Home Depot store in Puerto Rico opened in Bayamon. More stores soon followed.
We currently have nine stores in Puerto Rico. After Hurricane Maria struck the island in 2017, our stores rallied to help communities rebuild. “We believe that taking care of our not only our associates but also the community ensures a lifetime relationship,” says Store Manager Belmary Velazquez.
