After three deployments and five years of service in the Navy, Jacob Snowden was finally home with his family. But, when it came time to spend quality time with his family outside, the Snowden’s were in need of some help.
“Our yard was really important to us as a family, even though it was awful. We didn’t feel safe with our daughter running around,” said Jacob’s wife, Jessica. “It wasn’t that we didn’t want to do anything to change it. It was just too much for us to take on. We couldn’t afford to do it all on our own.”
That’s when Team Depot and Habitat for Humanity Orange County stepped in to help in 2012. After a full outdoor landscaping renovation, the Snowden’s finally had a place to play outside.
So how is the family doing now? With spring in full swing, we checked back in on the Snowden’s three years after their Team Depot project to learn that the two little ones can’t get enough of their backyard – and neither can Jacob and Jessica.
“I can’t even express how much we use our yard now,” said Jessica. “We’ve been able to continue to do little improvements since the volunteers gave us such a great yard to work with. Since the project, we’ve celebrated birthdays, baby showers and even Jacob and my eighth wedding anniversary and vow renewal in our backyard.”
