When one of Chris’ dogs woke him up in the middle of the night, he initially thought it was for a late night potty break. But smoke greeted him when he reached the door. Chris ran back in for his wife, their keys and their dogs, getting everyone to safety.
“Fifteen minutes later, everything was gone, from slab to the roof.”
In order to help Chris and his family recover, The Homer Fund offered immediate monetary support. The Homer Fund, The Home Depot’s employee emergency assistance program, provided funds to move Chris and his family to temporary housing as they began to rebuild after the fire.
Now in its 20th year, The Homer Fund has awarded $176 million to more than 138,000 Home Depot families. Every dollar that associates donate to The Homer Fund goes right back to associates like Chris through the Direct Grant and Matching Grant Programs.
