Several HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) received over $350,000 this week in Home Depot grants. The winners also received a special treat, meeting with cast members from the 90s sitcom, A Different World.
Darryl Bell, Cree Summer, Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy, reunited to celebrate with representatives from nine HBCUs. A Different World ran for six seasons, centering around characters who attended a fictional, historically black college. At the event, the actors discussed the impact of the show and the fans who were inspired to attend HBCUs.
The awarded grants are part of The Home Depot’s campus improvement program, Retool Your School, an initiative aimed at giving back to our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by facilitating updates to campuses.
