Over the next two months, thousands of Home Depot associates are stepping out of the aisles and into their communities to give back to veterans across the country. We call it our Celebration of Service.
This year, Team Depot has made it easy for you to give back alongside us. Here are five ways you can #CHOOSETOSERVE veterans this fall:
- Join Team Depot for a project in your city
For the first time in The Home Depot’s history, we are inviting our customers to roll up their sleeves and join Team Depot volunteers at a project near them. We’ll be improving a veteran facility in Atlanta, building playhouse for low-income veteran families in Los Angeles and improving a facility that is home more than 150 formerly homeless veteran families in New York City.
Unable to attend a project in one of these cities? Enter your zip code here for a list of nonprofits to volunteer with near you.
- Send a TouchNote of thanks to a veteran
The Home Depot Foundation teamed up with TouchNote to help you easily send a message of appreciation to the special veterans in your life – right from your mobile device.
Click here to download TouchNote and access our custom postcard. Once you have the latest version of the app, enter promo code CHOOSETOSERVE and we’ll cover the cost if you cover the heartfelt thanks.
- Submit your #CHOOSETOSERVE moment to inspire others
We believe in leading by example – that is why Team Depot is asking you to submit your service story to inspire others. Whether it is a time that you carried a senior’s groceries to their car or traveled across the country to serve, we want to hear about it.
- Attend a Kids Workshop in Your City
On November 4, we will be setting up a special veteran-focused Kids Workshop in select cities across the country. Children will be able to build a Humvee to take home and parents will be encouraged to paint a card that will be delivered by Meals on Wheels to senior veterans on Veterans Day, November 11.
- Go to a DIY Workshop in Your City
Adults want to have fun too, so we’re inviting you to join us November 11 for a DIY workshop. Help create flag boxes that will be gifted to our national nonprofit partners to then pass on to veteran families.
