Making a Home In Mount Pleasant – The Home Depot Celebrates Its Newest South Carolina Store

March 06, 2019

As the fourth-largest municipality in South Carolina, Mount Pleasant is one of the fastest-growing areas in the state – and home to the newest location for The Home Depot.

At 106,000 square feet, the recently opened store employs more than 160 associates, and the latest technology and services. The store aims to deliver on a convenient shopping experience with cashless self-checkout stations and Online Pick Up Lockers, for orders originating from homedepot.com. Customers can also take advantage of the store’s Tool Rental Center, Pro Desk and Home Depot truck rentals, all of which help customers get back to their projects faster. In addition to customer projects, these offerings also support the area’s bustling economy.

“This opening is exciting for the community. We are ready to meet our customers’ expectations and deliver excellent customer service,” said Store Manager Lucas Santa Cruz.

The Home Depot also recognizes the history of its new home. Laing School in Mount Pleasant dates back to 1866 and was the first accredited school for African Americans in South Carolina. In addition to a historical marker, the school’s archway was incorporated into the architecture of the building. Among its efforts to incorporate the site’s history, the company relocated a memorial tree from the former school to a safe spot near the store and preserved the school’s basketball hoop, bricks and time capsule.

With the opening of this new store, we look forward to continuing to grow a strong partnership with the Mount Pleasant community.

The Home Depot currently operates 2,288 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
