According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statics, there are nearly 400,000 open jobs requiring skilled construction workers, but only 11% of the industry are women. The National Association of Women in Construction’s Women in Construction Week was founded in 1998 to celebrate and promote the role of women in the construction industry.
In collaboration with nonprofit partners, The Home Depot Foundation’s Path to Pro program offers several programs and scholarships open to anyone entering or currently enrolled in construction trade programs.
“Thanks to The Home Depot Foundation’s Path to Pro program, I have a career that I love. I enjoy paving the way for other young women to join the trades.” Ashley H., Path to Pro scholar.
The Home Depot Foundation has pledged to invest $50 million to fill the skilled labor gap. Path to Pro programs are available to youth, high school and trade school students, underserved communities and separating U.S. military servicemembers.
