Building a Stronger Future: Tackling the Skilled Trades Shortage with The Home Depot’s Path to Pro Program

January 25, 2024

With approximately 400,000 open trade jobs and 40% of current construction workers set to retire by 2031, The Home Depot is working to help fill those roles and diversify the industry.

The Path to Pro program bridges the gap between growing job demand and the shortage of skilled labor. It offers free training and connects tradespeople to hiring professionals in the construction and home improvement industries.

“We know The Home Depot Pro faces challenges in finding the right skilled worker for the job,” says Eric Schelling, vice president of global talent acquisition at The Home Depot. "By providing resources, training and connections, the Path to Pro program is committed to meeting the needs of the skilled trades industry. There is more than one way to 'Go Pro.' ”
