When some people think of Saturdays, they think of their home improvement project to-do list. Others may think of college football. The winning combination, of course, is when the two go together, like The Home Depot and ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot.
The Home Depot signed on to become the presenting sponsor of “College GameDay” in June of 2003, renaming it “College GameDay Built by The Home Depot.”
College GameDay, which originally launched in 1987, started going on location in 1993. Today, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot travels to college campuses around the country during the season, routinely drawing thousands of excited campus spectators and millions of viewers at home.
This year, the landmark partnership between The Home Depot and ESPN enters its 20th season.
“Being a part of college football’s greatest moments week to week has been such an honor for The Home Depot,” said Melanie Babcock, vice president of Integrated Media at The Home Depot. “This partnership has not only brought on great opportunities to showcase our home-improvement expertise, but it brings pride to our associates who get to see the brand on the biggest stage during the football season.”
As part of the celebration, the company is creating a commemorative hard hat display, presenting a variety of The Home Depot’s notable hard hat designs through the years, making for fun photo ops for fans onsite. Hard hats and gloves will also feature new designs to celebrate this landmark season. In addition, the iconic GameDay bus will have a special creative wrap to celebrate this 20th season of ESPN College GameDay Built by The Home Depot.
