The Home Depot Foundation’s 2026 Celebration of Service: Helping Heroes at Home Across All 50 States

September 08, 2026

The Home Depot Foundation has officially launched its annual Celebration of Service campaign, dedicating the fall season to Helping Heroes at Home.

Running from September 8 through November 20, 2026, the campaign spans from Patriot Day to Veterans Day. This year, the Foundation is partnering with hundreds of nonprofits to host veteran housing projects in all 50 states and three U.S. territories—Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Quick Facts: 2026 Celebration of Service

  • Campaign Dates: September 8 – November 20, 2026
  • Scale: Volunteer projects in all 50 states, plus Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Total Investment Goal: $750 million committed to veteran causes by 2030 (with over $650 million already invested since 2011).
  • Homes Improved: More than 70,000 veteran homes and facilities improved since 2011.
  • Volunteer Force: Led by Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer network.

Addressing a National Crisis

The Home Depot Foundation understands the importance of honoring and serving those who have served us all. The "Helping Heroes at Home" initiative is designed to address staggering national statistics:

  • Veteran Homelessness: Nearly 33,000 veterans face homelessness on any given night.
  • Inadequate Living Conditions: Over 2.75 million veterans live in inadequate housing.
  • Accessibility Needs: More than one million post-9/11 veterans live with a service-connected disability.

To combat these challenges, the Foundation prioritizes physical improvements to veteran housing facilities, creating environments that foster recovery and community integration for those exiting homelessness. For veterans living with catastrophic injuries, the organization works alongside nonprofit partners to provide mortgage-free smart homes or smart home modifications. Meanwhile, senior, low-income or disabled veterans receive critical home repairs, such as ADA-compliant ramp installations or accessible bathroom upgrades, making daily life safer and more comfortable.

A Legacy Driven by Team Depot

For more than 30 years, Team Depot—The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force—has been the operational heart of the Foundation’s mission to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans. For the company, giving back to the military is deeply personal. Tens of thousands of The Home Depot’s associates are veterans, active-duty military, or military spouses. In collaboration with our nonprofit partners, Team Depot volunteers and The Home Depot Foundation have successfully improved more than 70,000 veteran homes and facilities since 2011.

15 Years of Investment and a Growing Commitment

The 2026 campaign also marks a significant milestone: 15 years of The Home Depot Foundation formally investing in veteran causes. Currently, the Foundation is continuing its progress toward a commitment to invest $750 million in veteran causes by 2030, having already invested more than $650 million since 2011.
