The Home Depot Announces 5-Million-Tree Reforestation Initiative with Strategic Wood Suppliers

September 03, 2026

At The Home Depot, responsible wood sourcing goes beyond the products on our shelves—it extends to the forests and communities that make those products possible. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable forestry, The Home Depot and selected strategic lumber suppliers have launched a long-term reforestation and forest conservation initiative designed to help restore and protect forests for future generations.

Together with wood suppliers Arauco, Irving Forest Products, and Weyerhaeuser, The Home Depot has established a collective initiative to support the distribution of at least 5 million tree seedlings by 2032, contributing to the restoration and conservation of approximately 10,000 acres of forestland globally.

To put that scale into perspective, that's an area equivalent to 12 of New York’s Central Parks or approximately 8,000 football fields.

A Collaborative Approach to Forest Stewardship

Healthy forests play a critical role in supporting biodiversity, protecting watersheds, improving air quality, storing carbon, and sustaining rural communities. Through this supply chain partnership, The Home Depot and participating suppliers are combining efforts, expertise, and regional knowledge to advance meaningful environmental conservation outcomes.

By working together, we can scale our impact beyond what any one organization could achieve independently, helping to ensure forests remain healthy and productive for generations to come.

The initiative leverages the unique geographic presence and forestry expertise of each participating supplier, enabling diverse restoration and conservation efforts across multiple geographical regions.

Building on Our Sustainable Forestry Commitment

The Home Depot has long recognized that responsible forest management is essential to both environmental sustainability and the future availability of forest products. Our sustainable forestry strategy promotes responsible sourcing practices that help protect forests while supporting the local communities and ecosystems that depend on them.

Partnering for Greater Impact

The Home Depot values partnerships that create measurable environmental progress. Through collaboration with Arauco, Irving Forest Products, and Weyerhaeuser, this reforestation initiative demonstrates how lumber suppliers and The Home Depot can work together toward shared sustainability efforts while supporting the long-term health of forest ecosystems.

As these projects continue to develop, this initiative is expected to support the restoration and conservation of thousands of acres of forestland and contribute to millions of new trees being established across the landscape.

By investing in forests today, we are helping build healthier, more resilient forests for tomorrow.
