Immigration Activity in Our Parking Lots

At The Home Depot, our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our customers, our associates, and the communities we serve. We recognize that recent activity around some of our parking lots has raised questions, and we want to make sure the facts are clear.

We are committed to maintaining a welcoming environment for everyone at our stores, while staying compliant with the laws that govern the markets where we operate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Home Depot involved in immigration enforcement operations?

No. The Home Depot is not involved in these operations, and we do not coordinate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or other federal agencies regarding them.

Do federal agents require a warrant to enter The Home Depot parking lots?

Because our stores and parking lots are publicly accessible, law enforcement agents do not require a warrant to enter these areas. We comply with all applicable federal and local laws in every community where we do business.

Does The Home Depot grant federal law enforcement access to license plate reader information?

Like many retailers, we use license plate readers in our parking lots. These cameras are used for the purpose of detecting and preventing theft and protecting the safety of our customers and associates. We do not grant access to our license plate readers to federal law enforcement.

What instructions do you give your associates regarding these events?

Our associate safety protocols are consistent with our longstanding protocols for all law enforcement and protest activities. We instruct our associates not to engage with active law enforcement operations to ensure their own safety and seek to manage protests so that they do not disrupt operations or present a danger to our associates or customers. We also provide support and flexibility to associates who may feel uncomfortable working during these times, including the option to go home for the remainder of their shift.

What is The Home Depot’s no-solicitation policy?

The Home Depot maintains a long-standing no-solicitation policy, which prohibits the selling of goods or services in our parking lots or on our property.
