The Home Depot Foundation Honors Dr. King’s Legacy with Nationwide MLK Week of Service

January 15, 2026

In honor of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., The Home Depot Foundation is mobilizing its associate volunteer force, Team Depot, for a nationwide week of service. From January 15 through January 25, hundreds of associates will swap their orange aprons for Team Depot shirts to support local communities through hands-on volunteerism.

This year’s week of service focuses on building stronger, more resilient communities. In partnership with ToolBank USA and ToolBank affiliates, Team Depot volunteers are set to construct furniture for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and other nonprofit organizations across the country.

Local Action, National Impact

This initiative spans multiple states, with projects designed to provide functional outdoor spaces for youth and community members. Most projects feature up to 40 volunteers working in Home Depot parking lots or ToolBank warehouses. Once construction is complete, ToolBank handles the logistics of delivering the finished goods to the organizations.

A Commitment to Community

The Home Depot Foundation is committed to creating stronger, more resilient communities by giving back and volunteering locally. The MLK Week of Service is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s mission to improve the homes and lives of those in need. "During my first Team Depot project, I truly felt like I was a part of something bigger," Robin, Team Depot captain shares. "The impact of what we do is real."

A Snapshot of Projects Across the Country

While more than 20 cities nationwide are hosting Team Depot service projects this month, here is a look at how some local communities are honoring the legacy:

Kicking off the week, 40 volunteers assembled picnic tables and benches for The Salvation Army of Caguas in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
