The Home Depot is proud to announce a new partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation – a collaborative effort dedicated to reforestation efforts and biodiversity protection projects throughout the world. The Home Depot is committing to help reforest 2,000 acres by 2028 – equal to the size of 800+ Home Depot stores – through this partnership.
The first 500+ acres planted are dedicated to:
- Restoring endangered longleaf pine habitats in the Southeastern U.S., specifically in Florida and Alabama
- Rebuilding and protecting biodiversity within the Amazon and Atlantic forests of Brazil
- Preserving wildlife habitats and working towards long-term forest regeneration across North America
The Home Depot has embedded sustainability into our business strategy. Our sustainable forestry commitment helps support biodiversity, watershed health, and ecosystem resilience, establishing sustainability from the forest canopy to our aisles. Reforestation is a vital step in preserving forests of great need and critical species biodiversity for future generations.
In addition to our own commitment, The Home Depot is also encouraging suppliers to take their own long-term reforestation efforts. This is already in practice with our seasonal suppliers, who plant three new Christmas trees for every one they harvest.
Fiscal Year 2025 by the Numbers
Environmental leadership has never been more vital. Behind every tree and project are people and places that have been transformed and restored thanks to organizations like you.
- 486K+ Trees planted in forests
- 518 Acres restored
In the coming years, these trees will help to:
- Avoid 50.9M+ gallons of water runoff* (enough to provide 621K+ people with water for one day**)
- Remove over 819 tons of air pollutant*
- Provide enough oxygen for 1.9M+ people for one day**
“Trees and forests are the backbone of our ecosystems. As we grapple with a changing climate and the challenges it brings people and the planet, restoring forests can make a significant difference in our future. In just one year, this partnership has already created large-scale impact that will benefit some of the most vulnerable forest ecosystems in the world, and we’re so grateful for The Home Depot’s commitment to building a better world through meaningful tree planting.”
