Our Dress Code and Political Statements

You may have seen the story about one of our associates (employees) who wore an unauthorized hat to work with a controversial political statement. We’ve also seen a great deal of misinformation, and even some fake posts by people pretending to represent The Home Depot.

The fact is that the hat violated our workplace dress code policy, as would any attire that promotes political, religious or other personal beliefs. We respect everyone’s right to voice their opinions but our employment policy is clear that doing so while at work isn’t appropriate.

We also want to be fair to our associates when they make mistakes. In most instances, we remind them of our policies and expect that they’ll be followed. If someone refuses to follow our policy, it will lead to termination.

If you’ve reached out to us, thank you for your feedback.
