With porch weather comes porch style, and each spring, The Home Depot seeks out a group of creative and talented bloggers to showcase their outdoor design and DIY skills in our Patio Style Challenge. This year’s challenge brought to life the unique style of each of these DIY and home décor experts and revealed some of the top trends for outdoor decorating this season. See what made our patio inspiration list:
1. Mix and match for the perfect color combination and add warmth and texture with an all-weather outdoor rug.
With our Create Your Own Collection Tool, you can choose from 16 different frames and 15 fabric options to reflect your unique style. But, don’t let your creativity stop there. Consider mixing and matching accessories across collections and add a colorful, all-weather rug to make any patio colorful and cozy. With a navy, patterned rug, Toni Roberts of Design Dazzle brought comfort and color to her concrete patio.
2. Light up your space with style.
Flood lights are useful, but you can give your patio a more personal touch. Get creative with the latest designs in string lights, LED candles and solar-powered umbrellas, like Alexi Politis of Seeking Alexi.
3. Create extra seating with custom DIY flare.
When you’ve got a big party or family, there can never be enough seating. Sandra Downie of The Rustic Life recommends a bench so you can hold multiple people at once. She added her own rustic look to the trend by building her own.
4. Play with pots and containers to bring out your personal style.
Pillows, plants and pottery are quick and easy additions that can bring personality to your patio. Kennesha Buycks of Restoration House Interiors went for a bohemian patio makeover with lots of pillows, texture and greenery.
