Employee Self-Service (ESS) is an online resource for Home Depot associates to view, edit and/or enroll in:
Direct DepositThe Home Depot offers associates the ability to receive their pay deposited electronically into their bank account(s). Associates may have up to two accounts-checking and/or savings-for direct deposit.
The advantages of using direct deposit are:
If an associate doesn't have a bank account, they may consider reviewing the Citi payroll card pay option (except for associates in New York and Blinds.com associates).
Associates who work in the following states will be enrolled in the Citi payroll card automatically, if they are not enrolled in direct deposit:
Associates who work in all other states and territories can sign up for direct deposit via ESS or by calling the HR Service Center at 1-866-myTHDHR (1-866-698-4347). The associate's routing and bank account numbers from a personal checking or savings account are needed to enroll.
Online EnrollmentThere are two ways to enroll in direct deposit online:
Associates are not restricted or obligated to open an account with any bank. The Home Depot introduced banking partnerships only as an added convenience.
Enrollment is allowed in only one of the electronic pay options-direct deposit or payroll card-but not both.

Associates who work in all other states and territories (except New York and Blinds.com associates) can sign up for the payroll card via ESS or by calling the HR Service Center at 1-866-myTHDHR (1-866-698-4347). Associates should be sure to verify or update their home address before enrolling to ensure the payroll card materials are mailed to the correct location.
Citi will create a personalized Citi MasterCard Payroll Card for an associate and mail it to their home address. When the card is received, associates are advised to:
An associate's payroll card will be mailed to the address on record in The Home Depot Human Resource/payroll system. The address can be a Post Office Box address.
The payroll card offers many of the same advantages as a personal direct deposit account:
Payroll card holders receive one free ATM withdrawal each pay period-additional-withdrawal fee information can be found at www.prepaid.citi.com.
The Home Depot will not have access to view transactions or purchases.
Pre-checks are designed to move money from a payroll card, so an associate can cash a pre-check at a bank or any other check cashing facility.
For questions about the earnings amount on a payroll card, contact the appropriate District Human Resource Manager (DHRM) or call the HR Service Center at 1-866-myTHDHR (1-866-698-4347).
Associates who work in the following states will be automatically re-enrolled in the payroll card, if they cancel direct deposit:
Associates who work in all other states will need to enroll in direct deposit.
Keep a payroll card safe, even if deposits are stopped to the card. If an associate is automatically re-enrolled, they will receive their pay on the same card.
Additional payroll card information:

[top] Hourly associates in locations that use Kronos may view their current week's timecard in ESS Weekly Time Detail, which includes:
Illinois associates can view rollover (Vacation - IL) and non-rollover (Vacation - US) as applicable, in weekly time detail.
There are two ways to view weekly timecard detail:
If a weekly timecard detail doesn't appear for an hourly associate, the HR Service Center should be contacted for assistance at 1-866-myTHDHR (1-866-698-4347) or myTHDHR@homedepot.com.To change tax withholding information, the associate must use Employee Self Service (ESS).
The HR Service Center cannot make changes to your tax withholding over the phone.
It is up to the associate to decide from which state(s) to have taxes withheld.
The computer system limit is 30 dependents, unless there is an IRS or state mandate letter in effect.
Associates working in Colorado or Nebraska are required to have the same State and Federal tax withholdings. When an associate updates their Federal withholding in ESS, their State withholding will automatically update to match their Federal election. There are two ways to access W-2 statements:
W-2 corrections (W-2Cs) are not available in ESS for previous years.
Multiple W-2s for the same year are available in ESS
If an associate lived in one state and worked in another, wages are often reported to both states. The two state wage boxes cannot be added together to get the same total as box 1.
Gross pay on the last check of the tax year reflects total payments made to an associate during the tax year.
The IRS once required a control number, but it does not today. For further questions about the control number, contact the IRS.
The Home Depot cannot give advice on how an associate should file taxes. Check with a tax accountant/advisor for advice on taxes.
