As the world’s leading employer of Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls, The Home Depot is committed to amateur sports and to the Olympic Movement. Since 1992, The Home Depot has employed more than 570 athletes through U.S. Olympic Committee’s (USOC) Olympic Job Opportunities Program (OJOP) and similar programs in Canada and Puerto Rico. Through OJOP, The Home Depot offers athletes full-time pay and benefits for a flexible 20-hour workweek to accommodate demanding training and competition schedules. To date, more than 300 athlete-associates have competed in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, earning a total of 194 medals including 88 gold, 62 silver and 44 bronze. The Home Depot will continue its sponsorship of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams through 2008.

Through these programs, The Home Depot supports athletes in more than 30 different sports, including wrestling, field hockey, rowing, shooting, taekwondo, track & field, badminton, speed skating, snowboarding, skiing and ice hockey, among others.

The Home Depot Center

Along with its support of Olympic athletes, The Home Depot also built a home for Olympic hopefuls to hone their skills. The Home Depot Center™ , is a state-of-the-art multi-sport facility for soccer, tennis, track & field, cycling, volleyball and other sports which opened in Carson, Calif., in June 2003.

The Home Depot Center is the home of the 2002 MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy as well as the MLS expansion team Club Deportiva Chivas USA and Los Angeles' Major League Lacrosse 2006 expansion franchise. In addition, the site is the U.S. Soccer Federation's national team training headquarters and the location of the United States Tennis Association's High Performance National Training Center. The development, which is also the home of the nationally recognized Athletes Performance training center for elite and professional athletes, has additionally been designated the official training sites for USA Cycling and the United States Track & Field organization.

Developed and operated by AEG, the $150 million Home Depot Center represents the largest ever investment in amateur athletics. Whether competing or training, athletes will have the use of world-class amenities including a 3,000 square foot weight room, training and locker room facilities as well as dining, housing and other hospitality services.
